It’s the final week of the Wyrd and Wonder read-along, where we’re discussing The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart. There’s absolutely no avoiding spoilers now, so proceed at your own risk! Mayri the BookForager is our host for this final week.
Wyrd and Wonder
After each adventure, it’s recommended you take a brief pause to catch your breath before heading back out into the worlds of fancy. Join me by the fire to hear what your fellow adventurers have been up to in the third week of Wyrd and Wonder…
Although Lin continues to impress her father with her simulated memories, her tentative friendship with Bayan is reset after her foster brother falls ill. Meanwhile Jovis finds himself thrust into the heart of the Shardless Few’s plans, but the more he sees of Gio, the more uneasy he grows…
We’re in the heart of our adventures now, exploring new worlds, making new friends, finding new authors, characters and stories to get excited about. Worried you may have missed out? Grab a seat, friend. Your Wyrd and Wonder bards are here to sing you the tales of the past week…
This week, events keep conspiring to turn Jovis aside from his pursuit of the mysterious boat with blue sails thanks to his growing reputation as a smuggler …and as a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, Lin progresses in learning bone shard magic – and in recovering fragments of her memories. But will Ranami ever persuade Phalue to challenge the status quo?
Settle in by the fire, traveller. Grab a hot drink – or a cold one, if you’d rather – and get ready to hear the tales of a hundred adventurers fresh back from the wilds of fantastic realms. Yes, it’s time to look back on the first week (and a bit) of Wyrd And Wonder…
Welcome to the Wyrd And Wonder read-along! This year, we’re buddy reading The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart, with discussions over the next four weeks. This is a fantasy of magic and revolution, set in an island empire whose citizens donate their bones – and their life force – to power the strange creations the Emperor uses to govern them. Intrigued? Let’s get to it…
Welcome to an epic month of celebrating the fantastic. The annual Wyrd and Wonder party starts here, where our party of fantasy lovers yell about books, gush over shows, search out new authors and share our favourites as we explore every nook and cranny of the genre. There’s no protecting your TBR, so grab a book bag of holding and get ready for rapid expansion!
So I was procrastinating over some overdue reviews (shh, I know) at the weekend and before I knew it I was tinkering with the Challenge to see if I could turn the prompts into a Wyrd And Wonder Book Bingo. The answer was not really, but I kept going because who doesn’t love book bingo? So for those of you who fancy a fantasy reading challenge for May, here you go!
It’s just 3 weeks until a month of Wyrd and Wonder begins: May is the month for celebrating the fantastic in all its forms. As usual, this includes a read-along – this year, we’re buddy reading The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart with weekly discussions to share the feels.
It’s just over a month until Wyrd And Wonder, our month-long celebration of the fantasy genre – so it’s time to reveal the prompts for our annual challenge. Share photos, write a blog post (or several), express your response in sea shanties on TikTok – we can’t wait to see what you turn them into!
Hey you – you look like a reader who enjoys dipping into the worlds of fantasy from time to time. Which worlds? Any of them! All of them? We’re not fussy – Wyrd and Wonder is about celebrating the fantastic in all its forms with a party of like-minded adventurers. I’m happy to announce (rather later than usual, but time runs differently in fantasy worlds) that your favourite fantasy blogstravaganza will be back this May! Will you join us?
Top Ten Tuesday is was created by The Broke and the Bookish, and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. We’re celebrating all things spooky for Hallowe’en, so I’m diverting from books to consider the stories that haunt us outside their pages.
October is here: leaves are a-crunching, pumpkin spice is a-calling and Spooktastic Reads is nearly upon us. Will you join us for Wyrd and Wonder’s annual celebration of dark fantasy, Gothic horror and autumnal scares?
Wyrd and Wonder seems like a long-ago dream, but there’s time for more fantasy flailing before year’s end. We’re delighted to confirm Spooktastic Reads will be back to venture into the darker reaches of fantasy for 13 days leading up to Hallowe’en. Are you brave enough to join us?
