The Grey King has seized the Capa’s domain and destroyed the Gentleman Bastards. Homeless, practically penniless, and alone, Locke and Jean are determined to reignite the Don Salvara game to fund their revenge. Can they escape the Spider’s notice and steal the Grey King’s triumph?

Locke must convince the Capa he’s too sick to hunt the Grey King, so that he can pretend to be the Grey King when the Capa goes a-hunting. What can possibly go wrong? Surely even competence porn has limits? (ALL THE SPOILERS)
Capa Barsavi has a problem. His most prominent garristas are dying in droves, cut down by the mysterious Grey King. As a minor pezon, Locke Lamora is only mildly concerned he’ll end up on the hit list: not worried enough to cut short the Don Salvara game. But Barsavi has plans for Locke – and so does the Grey King…
It’s the second week of the Gentleman Bastards Read-along and the thick is beginning to plotten. All is going swimmingly in the Don Salvara game, but the Grey King is cutting a swathe through Capa Barsavi’s garristas. Can the gang preserve their con, keep on the right side of an enraged Capa, and ensure Locke doesn’t end up in the Grey King’s hands?

Welcome to the first week of the Gentleman Bastards Read-along! Our first week in Camorr introduces us to the inimitable Locke Lamora, from his precocious childhood on Shades Hill to his current heist as garrista of the Gentleman Bastards. The world-building, history and plot set-up is fast and colourful in every sense. Can you smell the canals yet?
Come along on an epic adventure! Flights (of fancy), accommodation (ethical) and food (for the imagination) included. Poison not guaranteed. All travel is at your own risk. Late nights, sore eyes, and an overwhelming desire to spend hours in the kitchen creating something wonderful may ensue. All belongings are the responsibility of the traveller; travel will not be reimbursed if limbs are lost to sharks, or hearts to thieves.
