Wyrd and Wonder is back this May for another month of celebrating the fantastic! We’ll be reading, watching, listening and gaming our way through every nook and cranny of the fantasy genre, and sharing our enthusiasm online through our blogs and social media feeds.
A dark corridor stretches before you. You strain to make out the faint sounds echoing off its walls. Are there voices in the distance? Yes! There is a flicker of light ahead. Getting closer, the excited chatter becomes distinct. It is a group of adventurers. Wait, are they clutching book bags?
Welcome to final SciFiMonth Mission Status for this year. What a month it’s been: over 330 blog posts plus a treasure trove of tweets, pictures and comments! Thank you all so much for making it our most epic SciFiMonth yet.
Welcome to half of the weekly SciFiMonth Mission Status log! I’ll be covering the week’s reviews and read-alongs again this week – hop over to Dear Geek Place for a round-up of the week’s discussions and other comms chatter.
We’ve just passed the halfway point on our journey, and the reports are coming in thick and fast from the ground crews and the wider Fleet. Adventure has been found in deep space, on other planets, in other times and dimensions and (of course) in a galaxy far, far away. Let’s take a look…
We’re all settled in for the journey now. The TBRs are stashed, the reading has begun in earnest, and there’s a media catalogue big enough to keep Murderbot happy. Maybe. Let’s look back at the last week’s activity…
Welcome to our biggest SciFiMonth yet! Our mentions exploded on November 1st, and the comm hasn’t stopped pinging since – we love you people ❤️
The mercury is dropping. The clocks are going back (that counts as time travel, right?). And aboard the good ship SciFiMonth, the engines are roaring for lift off. Winter starts here: time for your favourite month-long geek-out over all things science fictional!
We’re nearly there: the countdown to SciFiMonth will start any day! Time to plot our course to far-flung star systems, parallel universes, possible futures and poorly-designed research labs full of dubious experiments (what can possibly go wrong?)
A cheerful buzz of excitement is building aboard the good ship SciFiMonth. Star charts are scattered across the mess. Research papers and hazard assessments are stacked for review. The radio is on (so is the kettle). It’s just under a month to the start of our annual SF geekstravaganza! Are you ready?
A quiet beep. The light on the console pulses more brightly, each burst longer than the last. A low hum. More lights flick on one by one. Finally, a chatter of noise: there’s a message coming in. Time to wake the crew. SciFiMonth is coming! Will you join us?
The end of an adventure is bittersweet: a welcome return home, but an acknowledgement that it’s over… for now. Wyrd and Wonder has run its course for another year, so let’s take one last look at what an epic quest it has been.
It’s Monday, which means it’s time to gaze into my crystal ball once more and see what my Wyrd and Wonderful companions have been up to this past week.
I’m locked high in a tower with my nose in the wrong sort of book this weekend, but at least the view is good from up here – so grab yourself a seat and let me share the doings of my Wyrd and Wonderful companions…
Our intrepid party has split up and ventured out into the realms of fantasy in search of adventure. Some seek out dragons. Some swim with mermaids. Some dance with shapeshifters in the ruins of familiar cities. But all have a stash of books in their backpacks and a story to share around the fire…
