Autumn is well and truly here, and the countdown to SciFiMonth continues! This will be our tenth year of celebrating all things science fictional through November, and Lisa and I are
as disorganised as usual busy brewing up tea, giveaways, read-alongs and our now-traditional SciFiMonth challenge. A prompt a day to keep the tribbles away? Something like that…
Our adventure is done, but the long days of summer lie ahead for further exploration of the realms of fantasy to lay in a stock of new stories to share when we next meet. But before we head back out into the fictional wilds, let’s take a final look back at our fifth year of Wyrd and Wonder.
We’re two thirds of the way through our journey, which is another fine time to pause and take stock. Pour yourself a drink and settle in to hear all about the adventures we’ve been having on our travels through the realms of fancy.
Well met, traveller! How are your adventures through the realms of fantasy? Varied and satisfying, we hope – but before you head back out in search of another, settle in and I’ll tell you a tale of what the rest of the party have encountered in their genre journeys. That’s right, it’s time for the Quest Log!
I’m delighted to announce a very special Wyrd & Wonder giveaway, combining our forest fantasy theme with a spooktastic vibe in honour of Friday the 13th! We have five ARCs of The Dark Between The Trees by Fiona Barnett to giveaway courtesy of the lovely team at Rebellion Publishing – if you’re brave enough!
Welcome back to the tavern, traveller! Grab a drink and rest awhile – the first week of Wyrd and Wonder has been busy, so it’s time to settle in and find out what adventures the rest of the party have found as they ventured into the wilds of fantasy. Never fear, your co-hosts have a round-up of all the action!
May is here, marking the start of our fifth annual celebration of all things fantastic! Wyrd and Wonder means raving about our favourite fantasy books, yelling about movies and tv shows, sharing the games that light our fires, seeking out new authors and making new friends. Sure, we read fantasy all year round – but in May we do it together.
After much deliberation and a sudden brainwave, I am delighted to announce that for this year’s Wyrd and Wonder sign-up giveaway I shall be giving away not one, not two but three books (a whole trilogy in fact) that I absolutely adore and that has a (slightly horrific) twist on our forest fantasy theme.
Wyrd and Wonder will be back this May – and would you believe it’s our fifth birthday? We’re looking to celebrate all things fantasy with as many friends as we can persuade to join the party. Will you join us?
And suddenly it’s December, which means that SciFiMonth is over and we must all return to Earth (or other planet, universe or reality of choice). Before we do, there’s time for our final round-up of the crew’s adventures from the final week and a bit.
What’s this? A Mission Log on a Monday? You betcha (but don’t get used to it – next week’s log will be midweek so we can wrap the full month). It’s hard to believe we’re in the home stretch now, but we refuse to get mournful over it: there’s too many interesting things going on. Put your feet up and come see what the crew have been up to this past week…
Tuesday is the new Monday in some timeline or other: in this one, it’s time for a weekly SciFiMonth round-up! Grab a cuppa and settle in to catch up on what your our awesome crew have been talking about over the past seven(ish) days before we – gasp, already? – set a course for the second half of SciFiMonth…
Hailing all channels: it’s time for your weekly SciFiMonth round-up! If you’ve been off exploring your own favourite corner of the multiverse, you may have missed what your fellow crew are up to. Don’t worry: Lisa and I have been manning the comms and we’ll take you on a tour of the fun so far.
November is here, which means the good ship SciFiMonth is blasting off with a crew full of SFnal-loving geeks to spend 30 days celebrating the joys and horrors of but what if? We’ll be reading, watching, listening, playing and above all chattering our way through all forms of science fiction all month long.
Back in May, I took the Wyrd and Wonder challenge prompts and reworked them as a book bingo for anyone fancying a reading challenge. Of course I couldn’t resist doing the same for SciFiMonth! If you’re looking for a way to structure your TBR or just love filling boxes and entering a giveaway, look no further…
