I had a hoot taking the Bookish Memory Check for Wyrd and Wonder, and when Tanja jogged my memory by running an SFnal edition over at Where Stories Lie, I knew it was going to be my first tag of the month. I like to think my TBR and my shelves are fairly curated, so I should know what all these books are about, right? Yes, well, let’s find out!

Welcome back to Spooktastic Reads, the autumnal mini-event that celebrates the darker side of fantasy. Over the next 13 days, I will be enthusing about haunts, folklore, urban legends and horror (and any other spooktastic fantasy I fancy) along with co-hosts Lisa and Jorie and our brave party of adventurers. I’m kicking off with a seasonal book tag…
I was absolutely definitely going to declare today a Space Opera Sunday and review The All-Consuming World, but well, I’m still wrangling my thoughts on that and I’m away with my Mum and our plans today involve castles and hills and cake and not me wrestling with my feelings about a book. SO, new blog plan! Mayri the BookForager recently came up with a shiny new Introductions tag – go grab a cuppa and I’ll give you a glimpse of my scaly underbelly. So to speak.
Forgive me, friends, for it’s time for another book tag – and I confess I have a lot more Opinions, because this tag unexpectedly provoked some strong reactions! I adopted the tag from Mayri, who got it from The Book Nut, and it all started over at Laura’s Book Reviews (now defunct).
I saw this tag on on The Suspected Bibliophile who got it from Amanda @Literary Weaponry who had it from Way Too Fantasy (how did I miss it there? I don’t know) – although it originated with Gabs About Books on Booktube. I couldn’t resist. Reading is a very subjective experience of course and other opinions are also availableTM, but Goodreads is so often wrong…
Well hello midsummer, good to see you! The end of June means it’s time to look back at this year’s reading and see how 2021 is shaping up – and this year’s check in will be harder than ever, because it’s been quite a year of books already. Let’s take a look…
Hot summer days aren’t the best for settling in to write long, insightful blog posts. But they’re perfect for book tags. Fran Laniado shared The Serial Reader Tag a while back, which was created by Zwartraafje to celebrate the delight and horror of falling in love with a series…
I enjoy a fun book tag, and when I saw Tanja’s Bookish Memory Check over at Where Stories Lie, I knew I wanted to have a go. I like to think my TBR and my shelves are fairly curated, so I should know what all these books are about, right? Yes, well, let’s find out!
I became aware of this tag when Mayri tackled it last autumn on BookForager. Mayri got it from Beatrice at Dreamlands Book Blog, but it started out over on BookTube long enough ago that the original vlogger no longer has a public channel. Old book tags never die, they just find new readers to get excited about them.
I’m not much of a one for New Year’s resolutions, so I’m taking a week out from Top Ten Tuesday to tackle a book tag that recently tickled my fancy. I found this via The Captain and Laura Tisdall, but it originated (as far as I can tell) with Adam at Roof Beam Reader in 2010 (a fine vintage tag, right here).
In spite of the name, there are some blog tags you can’t leave too late to take – so today I’m tackling Ariel Bissett‘s End of The Year tag while there’s still time (with thanks to Laura Tisdall for reminding me about it).
We’re two thirds of the way through SciFiMonth and I haven’t indulged in a tag yet. That won’t do! Luckily, Maryam the Curious SFF Reader flew to my rescue with BooksWithEmilyFox‘s SF re-imagining of the Get To Know The Fantasy Reader tag. Step inside my shuttle…
2020 isn’t a year that feels like it’s flying by. Rather, time has become a little meaningless. It wasn’t until I saw Mayri the BookForager and Dr Laura Tisdall post mid-year freak-outs that the penny dropped that yes, the end of June does mean we’re halfway through the year… so let’s take stock!
I was determined to catch up on reviews, but it’s much too hard at the moment so I’m doing a review tag instead. The 5 Star Books In 5 Words tag (originally created by Matthew Sciarappa) has been a huge fave this Wyrd and Wonder, so about time I joined in, right?
I got this perfectly Wyrd and Wonder-shaped tag from Dragons and Zombies, who got it from the Little Book Owl – but they weren’t sure where it originated. I applied my well-honed spy skills and it seems we can thank Toast Dragon Fantasy over on Booktube. Day 2 of Wyrd and Wonder and I’m thanking a dragon already. Perfect.
