Top Ten Tuesday: books I’ll be reading this spring

Text only: top ten TUESDAY

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish, and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It’s all about books, lists and sharing the love we have of both with our bookish friends. We’re nearly a quarter of the way through the year, so it must be time to talk about our spring TBRs!

I took a look at my recent acquisitions a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve continued to chip away at them. I also started to flail about my Wyrd and Wonder reading list (hooray for fantasy reads!). Those will obviously feature this spring, but much of the next few months will be all about my Subjective Chaos shortlists. There’s a lot to get excited about.

It’s an intriguing mix here, with some titles I would have been unlikely to pick up otherwise (I’d never actually heard of H(A)PPY or Metronome before they were nominated for Subjective Chaos, but they both sound fascinating); and I was actively avoiding Jade City (…in my head it was an organised crime story, and those aren’t far behind cannibals in being ‘not my thing’) and Winter Tide (Cthulhu mythos also being something I usually pass on) …so I’m curious to see how I go with them; Subjective Chaos is no respecter of comfort zones. I’m excited to read The Prey of Gods as I’ve heard so many good things about it, and I’ve had my eye on The Rift and An Unkindness of Ghosts for a while, so I’m looking forward to them a lot.

Of course, my TBR (top ten? Pffft) isn’t all from the nominees list. I’ve got a few ARCs too, and I’m painfully keen to read all of these!

Given the amount of love I’ve got for Machineries of Empire, not just picking up Revenant Gun straight away is taking all my willpower.

What will you be reading this spring? Have you read any of my TBR? (where do you think I should start?)
