Snap Snap Thursdays is a weekly meme hosted by Rebeca at “Books and Messy Buns”. I couldn’t resist joining in this week, as I’ve been cradling this gorgeous old book and poring over the maps in it since I got it. I might start calling it My Precious if I’m not careful. It’s a historical artefact as well as a fascinating reference – our understanding of some of the periods covered has changed since publication (it’s older than I am), and our expectations have shifted too (it’s very Eurocentric). It’s still fascinating.
