Mockingjay Pt 2 (****) (altho’ I’m tempted to deduct half a star for too many endings)

I also got round to seeing the following on aeroplanes, streaming or tv:
Mockingjay Pt 1 (****), Guardians of the Galaxy (**), Birdman (****), Wild (***), Into the Woods (****), Cake (****), Black Sea (***), Blackhat (**), Thor: The Dark World (***), Whiplash (****), A Single Man (***), Paddington (****), Under the Skin (**), Splice (***), The Two Faces of January (***), Take Shelter (***)

I have failed at watching the following (by which I mean I turned them off or fell asleep because they were just that gripping)
Inherent Vice, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Big Hero Six (twice)

Star ratings try to combine enjoyment factor and merit, but mostly focus on enjoyment. I can’t claim San Andreas has any merit. And I’m stretching a point with Jurassic World, and I know it. Yay, velociraptors!

I assume the + is meant to represent *all* of the star as there simply isn’t enough space on the internet to fully express the awesomeness of the movie, yes?

  In unrelated thoughts, I need to come up with some sort of alternate rating that captures the concept of ‘I had a blast watching it, but I’m not sure I ever need to see it again’ 🙂

    ….such as, I’m anticipating, Mission Impossible, which we’re off to see tonight. That concept certainly captures my feelings on MI:4, anyway.

      I take that back. I unabashedly and unreservedly enjoyed MI:5 (err that sounds misleading. Obviously I mean Rogue Nation), not least for giving us the second awesome kickass heroine of the summer after Furiosa. Ilsa Faust is a fabulous character, and unlike pretty much every other Tom Cruise movie ever, she doesn’t need him to rescue her (although he does keep trying, it’s clearly unnecessary). WIN.

For what it’s worth I had a blast with Big Hero 6. I would recommend not wasting any more effort on trying to get Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit watched, however 🙂

  Mr B adores Big Hero 6 – I just seem to have a knack for putting it on when I’m tired, and drifting off at exactly the same place (the car chase). I’ve also never seen all of Solaris or The King’s Speech (or most Liam Neeson movies) for exactly the same reason 😉
